I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!

Hi Everyone! I'm back from vacationing in Bar Harbor, Maine (no computers and no email). We were away for about a week and had fantastic weather! It's my second time in Bar Harbor and it's definitely one of my favorite New England places. You get ocean, mountains and lakes all in one place.

Dick and I took his parents with us and the 4 of us had a wonderful time. Because of this, we didn't do some of the "stuff" we did the last time we were there - kayaking, biking and hiking, but it meant we were able to really kick back and just relax - which we really enjoyed. We took a sunset sail on the Margaret Todd Schooner; took a nature cruise where we saw seals, harbor porpoises, eagles, etc; took a horse carriage ride around Acadia National Park; explored the island, etc etc etc...and ate lots of fresh Maine lobster :-)

This is the view from our hotel - The Bar Harbor Regency. It was great to eat breakfast every morning overlooking the ocean.

This is the sunset the night we were on the Schooner.

It's good to be back - although it was REALLY good to be away :)

I Went to a Red Sox Game - 6 Rows Behind Home Plate

On Thursday night, I attended the Red Sox game at Fenway Park and sat 6 rows behind home plate! A business associate's company has season tickets and invited 3 from our company to the game. I also attended a game last year and sat in the same spot. It was a great game, except that the Sox lost 7-6 (last year, the Sox won the game I attended). I saw a grand slam - too bad it was the Cleveland Indians who made it happen. It's funny - I saw a grand slam at last year's game and it was the Red Sox who got that one.

The player's wives sat just a couple of rows in front of us. And next to us, was a woman with a radar gun (you can see the pic below). She was clocking the speed of the ball being pitched for TV. BTW, Josh Beckett was pitching - which was pretty cool to see until he gave up 6 runs in the 6th!

And you can see Wally, the Green Monster, Red Sox's mascot. And the best part about sitting behind home plate is the netting. I'm deathly afraid of getting hit by a ball - all I can think of is Drew Barrymore in Fever Pitch - ouch! Also, I saw some of those balls coming into the stands and sometimes they're just whipping by.

Anyhow, a good time was had by all!

Thursday Thirteen

  1. My hair used to be down to my calves.
  2. When I was 12, I got it cut "Dorothy Hamill"-style.
  3. I still have the 2 long braids that were cut...somewhere.
  4. Since then, I have been able to donate my hair to the Locks of Love twice since the hairdresser was able to cut off at least 10 inches (minimum).
  5. Locks of Love makes wigs for kids who have long-term medical hair loss.
  6. I can be impulsive when it comes to cutting my hair. If I'm having a bad hair day, I might just make an appt for that day to get it cut.
  7. I graduated college with a BS in Accounting.
  8. I graduated in 3 1/2 years since I took some courses in the summer.
  9. In 2003, I saw Sting in concert in Paris in a small theatre/venue.
  10. I don't have any children.
  11. I've never wanted any children.
  12. I'm usually in a very good mood and usually smiling.
  13. I can't even remember the last time I was in a bad mood or feeling down.

Worst Music Video Ever

Here is one of the worst music videos I have ever seen. It's from Finland (sung in English) and it's from the 80's. Check out the choreography - yikes! Definitely good for a chuckle or maybe an outright laugh! (BTW, I first came across this video on Andrew Sullivan's blog.)
